Collaborating with ArcelorMittal

The Penn State York and Harrisburg campuses are collaborating with ArcelorMittal Steelton and the United Steelworkers Local 1688 in the development of their workforce through the Steelworker for the Future program. The intent of the ArcelorMittal’s Steelworker for the Future program is to have potential employees earn a degree, while making them employable upon graduation. The collaboration will help to educate and encourage careers in manufacturing.

Penn State offers two degrees and four credit certificates that align with the knowledge and skills expectations in ArcelorMittal’s Steelworker for the Future program. They are:

  • Mechanical Engineering Technology Certificate I
  • Electrical Engineering Technology Certificate I
  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (2MET)
  • Associate Degree  in Electrical Engineering Technology (2EET)
  • Advanced Industrial Mechanical Certificate
  • Advanced Industrial Electrical Certificate

Penn State makes no claim for the employability of graduates by ArcelorMittal.

Application Process

Prospective students will go through the Penn State undergraduate admissions process. Upon acceptance into 2EET or 2 MET programs, Penn State York will inform ArcelorMittal Steelton of the student’s acceptance.  The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requires Penn State to receive permission from the student to release information to ArcelorMittal.
