Information for students who have attempted 18 or more credit hours at another institution after high school graduation.

Admissions for Transfer Students
We know there are a number of reasons students consider transferring from their current college or university. We also know you might have concerns about transferring current course work, meeting program prerequisites, managing timelines, and more. We want to help you through the process of applying to Penn State York as a transfer student. If you'd like to schedule a transfer consultation with the Penn State York Transfer Coordinator, LeighAnn Myers, please contact the Penn State York Admissions Office at 717-771-4040 to request an appointment. Unofficial college transcripts can be brought to appointments for a preliminary evaluation of transferable credits.

Step 1) The Application

Future Penn State students must apply online at http://admissions.psu.edu/. To do so create a MyPennState account. This account is your one-stop shop for customizing your Penn State admissions experience. Your MyPennState will be an admission account that will allow you to apply online, receive messages, check the status of your application and accept your offer.
* Make sure you remember your user ID and password.

Step 2) Application Status

Penn State has rolling admissions, which means there is no deadline for applying. However, the evaluation of transfer applications does lengthen the review period, so transfer students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
The Undergraduate Admissions Office strives to evaluate undergraduate applications as quickly as possible. You can check the status of your application by logging into your MyPennState account.

Recommended Application Deadline:

  • To begin in the fall semester (August) - May 1
  • To begin in the spring semester (January) - October 15
*Students applying to Penn State York can apply later and still be accepted.

Step 3) Sending official high school and college transcripts:

Request an official high school transcript along with all post-secondary schools (s) attended and have it sent to the University Park Admissions Office at:

The Undergraduate Admissions Office
The Pennsylvania State University
201 Shields Building, Box 3000
