Adult Learners / Admissions

Adult learners make up nearly half of the Penn State York student population

We’re pleased that you are considering Penn State as a college choice. Penn State York offers traditional undergraduate, graduate, and noncredit education. As a student you will experience the excitement of innovative teaching and develop relationships that will last a lifetime. We encourage students to make friends, join clubs and organizations and be an active part of the community. Your success is as important to us as it is to you.

More than 160 Penn State majors can be started at Penn State York and completed at University Park or another Penn State location. Eight baccalaureate degrees can be completed at York as well as seven associate degrees. For more information, see: Academics.

 

For purposes of admission to Penn State, you will need to determine if you would be considered a First-year Student or a Transfer Student.

First-Year Student
A first-year student is someone who has earned a high school diploma or GED and has enrolled in fewer than 18 credits at other regionally accredited colleges or universities.

Transfer Student
A transfer student is someone who has earned a high school diploma or the equivalent and has attempted at least 18 credits at other regionally accredited colleges or universities before enrolling at Penn State.
