  1. Call to Order
    The meeting was called to order at 11:35 by Senate Chair, J. Sutton.
  2. Minutes
    The minutes of the April, 29, 2004, meeting of the Faculty Senate were approved.
  3. Announcements
    1. Senate meeting dates are: October 12, November 9 and December 2 at 12:10, room TBA.
    2. Committee
      1. Promotion and Tenure Committee
        1. Ballot to elect chair: Fred Haag's name was removed.
        2. Professor Promotion Committee: two full professors needed
        3. Nominating Committee for chair-elect of Senate was charged.
    3. Changes to committee assignments
      1. TLTA chair is Mike Jarrett
      2. Faculty Affairs committee Val White
    4. PSU Senate members will visit York Campus on October 27, 2004. Faculty was encouraged to attend the meeting.
    5. R. Farrell requested approval for Bio 460 to meet from 12-1 p.m. The motion carried.
    6. Scheduling of courses and course loads was discussed briefly.
  4. General discussion: Senate Chair, Jane Sutton invited meeting attendees to eat lunch and discuss three topics.
    1. New building: What changes might it bring? Do we want to anticipate problems and solve some issues now?
    2. Role of the senate: If the role of the senate is to give advice, how might committees work best as advisors? To whom do senate committees give their advice?
    3. Results of the Faculty/Staff Survey: How to understand the results and transform the negative.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 12:10 p.m.
