The meeting was called to order at 11:10 am by Chair M. Jartett. Minutes of the last meeting (April) were approved unanimously.
CEO Search Committee - M. Jarrett: After Pic-Tel interviews, the field was narrowed to 4, 3 of whom have taken other jobs. The search has been re-opened. The 4th (remaining) candidate will be interviewed later when the new candidates are interviewed. The job ad states the new CEO will start in January, but it may be fall if necessary. Candidates who were in the first pool need to re-apply or be re-nominated. Internal candidates are welcome.
Futures Committee - R. Farrell: We met 4 times this summer, and decided to do 3 different 30 second TV ads. The final versions will be shown soon.
Diversity Committee - D. Russell: On 9/11, an HBO documentary with different points of view of the attack and the aftermath will be shown. Note that it is very gruesome. A York firefighter who went to Ground Zero and a survivor of the attack will be special guests.
Strategic Planning Committee - K. Swalgin: Budgets will be on the back table for viewing.
Hearts and Flowers (Faculty Services Committee) - C. Bare: The fund is very low, so donations will be appreciated.
CWC Senator Jarrett: L. Miller will run for my position. It would be nice to have another "real" candidate on the ballot.
Elections were held with the following results:
Full Professor Promotion Committee - G. Collison, J. Dawson, D. Sarafian
Promotion and Tenure Committee - L. Itzoe (Chair), L. Berkowitz, F. Haag, A. Benharbit, M. Coyle
Curricular Affairs - C. Heydl-Cortinez: presented a proposal for an Early Childhood Care and Education option in the associate degree in 2FSCC (see handout). A motion to approve the proposal was made, seconded, and carried.
R. Himmer: Presented some ideas (see handout) on various possible ways to revise the day class schedule.
Discussion was held regarding the need to examine this idea. A committee including several students will be formed.
N. Flescher: A fall preview will be held 10/5/02. She is seeking faculty to teach sample classes to high school visitors.
J. McCormick: One idea for a faculty symposium is a panel discussion on academic writing.
S. Foley: Faculty technology training sessions will be held Monday and Thursdays at lunch time.
R. Farrell: presented a handout on Nanofabrication.
S. Robinson: is attempting to start a musical group and invites vocalist and/or instrumentalists to contact her.
Meeting was adjourned at 12:28 pm.
