Penn State York offers two on-campus dining options for students, faculty and staff --The Lion's Den and The Bistro.
The Lion's Den
The former Lion’s Den is currently under construction and is closed as part of the larger construction and renovation of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. The facility will reopen in August 2016 with a brand new name and a brand new look. The newly renovated space, which will be called “Rosie’s” will offer students a restaurant like feel, with a variety of food options. In addition to Rosie’s, the space will house a new coffee bar called “Cup O’ Joe.”
The Bistro is a full-service cafe, offering freshly roasted coffee from around the world, lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, tea, chai, and gourmet hot chocolates. For an extra creamy treat, the Coffee Bar offers frozen caramel mochas and other frozen coffee drinks and fruit smoothies. Start your mornings with one of the specialty bagels or muffins. For lunch or dinner, gourmet sandwiches and soups are available.
The Bistro is located in the John T. and Paige S. Smith Atrium which connects the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center to the Lee R. Glatfelter Library. Whether taking a study break at the library or just relaxing with friends, visit The Bistro and choose from the selection of fresh baked goods to munch on while sipping your favorite drink. Call The Bistro at 717-505-8980.
Hours: Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with extended hours for major events at The Pullo Center.
Catering services are also available to the faculty, staff and students of Penn State York. From informal breakfasts, coffee breaks, luncheons and buffets to full multi-course meals, The Bistro can tailor a menu to match your needs (and your budget). For your next meeting, luncheon, break, banquet or ceremony, contact The Bistro at 717-505-8980 or e-mail email@example.com. Visit The Bistro on the web.
Food Service Operations
Campus food services are managed and operated by The Bistro and their friendly staff. All meals are prepared on-site with the freshest ingredients available. Coffee is roasted at The Bistro's local roasting facility, using the same unique blends and roasts that have been served at the White House and Governor's Mansion.
The Bistro understands the challenges of student life when it comes to meals and snacks. A diverse but changing menu, flavorful and nutritionally-balanced meals, fast and friendly customer service, and affordable meal options are always taken into account at the Lion's Den and The Bistro. The Bistro and the Lion's Den accept cash, credit/debit cards, and Lion Cash. To contact Food Services, call 717-771-4039.
